FOTEVIKEN

The Viking era comes alive at the reconstructed Viking town at Foteviken south of Malmö. The photos on this page were taken at a visit there in the summer of 2001.

Animal hides are hung out to dry.

Living quarters. Inside are an open fireplace and benches. The low spaces under the roof on the sides are used for storage

Smoke house. Fish and meat were hung over fire for some hours to get smoked.
