Finland has a population of 5 million people and an estimated two million saunas. Almost every Finnish home is equipped with a sauna.

Most saunas in Finland today are electric because electric saunas are more convenient, faster to heat up and take up less space.

Old-fashioned wood saunas have become a luxury.

It is possible to have a sauna without a house, but never a house without a sauna.

The sauna is the poor man's pharmacy.

Finland is called "The Land of a Thousand Lakes."

Actually, there are almost 190,000 lakes in Finland, not counting the small ones.

The smoke sauna is the original sauna. Temperature is low, about 60 C, and humidity high.
